NewsHands-On Look at The New Cohiba Wide Short
Author: Usman Dawood
At this year’s Habanos Festival, we had the opportunity to meet with Jorge Fernández Cabezas to discuss the new Cohiba Wide Short. These machine-made cigars boast the same high-quality tobacco used in hand-rolled Cohibas. We decided to give them a try to see what they offered.
In our latest video, I’m joined by the international marketing director of Tabacelera Jorge Fernández Cabezas to look at the brand new Cohiba Wide Short cigar. It’s called the Wide Short due to its thicker ring gauge of 31.5 as opposed to the standard Shorts cigar that has a ring gauge of 26. The length of the cigar is also longer at almost 4 inches long instead of the 3 1/4 inch length of the standard Cohiba Shorts cigar.
The other major difference is the fact that this new cigar comes in a box of 6 instead of a box of 10 like the standard Cohiba Shorts do. Similarly, however, the new Wide Short remains a pre-cut cigar meaning that you only need a lighter when you have a box of these with you.
Despite the fact that these new Wide Shorts cigars are produced with Cohiba tobacco, they are short filler cigars. Therefore, they will generally require a more delicate touch when smoking to avoid any harshness.
