Vienna is a beautiful and amazing city with a rich history and plenty of culture to explore and enjoy. It was the home of Mozart, Beethoven, and Freud. Speaking of Freud—where can you shop for the best cigars while you are on your trip?
For cigar smokers, Vienna is something of a mixed bag. Cigars there are cheaper than the ones you’ll find in the UK (not like that’s hard to do), but still more expensive than you’ll find in a lot of other European countries. So don’t expect to find an outstanding deal. On the bright side, though, smoking is quite popular among locals, so a lot of bars and restaurants throughout the city will let you enjoy your stogies. There are also a few shops and bars which are absolutely outstanding.
Here are some shops and lounges I recommend while you’re in town:
Kruger’s American Bar
Krugerstrasse 5
1010 Vienna
Austria

This lounge has a well-appointed humidor with a selection of mass-release, limited-edition, and vintage cigars. Luxurious leather chairs and couches, hardwood floors and walls, and soft lighting make it a relaxing and sumptuous environment to relax and enjoy your smoke in style. It’s upscale and elegant, but still accessible.
Mohilla
Kohlmarkt 6
1010 Vienna
Austria
Innere Stadt

This cigar shop is located on the right side of Kohlmarkt. It’s something of a hidden gem, but it’s a favorite among many international visitors spending some time in Vienna. You’ll find a great selection of cigars there. They have a walk-in humidor, and if something you want is out of stock, they will have it for you within several days. If you want to keep your cigars in the humidor while you’re in town, they’ll be more than happy to accommodate you. How’s that for amazing service?
Cigars Wessely
Weihburggasse 3
1010 Vienna
Austria
Innere Stadt

While you’re downtown shopping in Vienna, you’ll find Wessely Cigars a convenient stop for a smoke break. There is a big selection here, including some Cuban limited editions. The staff is incredibly friendly and will help you find anything you need.
Cigarstore Hazar, Zigarrenfachgeschäft
Margaretenstrasse 42
1040 Wien
Austria
[Google Maps link]
This is an extremely popular tobacconist beloved by tourists and locals alike. The owner is a knowledgeable guy named Ercan Hazar. He and his daughter run the shop together, and both provide excellent information and advice while you’re shopping. The humidor is huge and the selection is amazing—and if you don’t find what you’re in search of, he may be able to hunt it down for you in back storage. Basically, if you’re going to visit just one tobacconist in Vienna, this should be it.
Palais Hansen Kempinski Vienna Smoker’s 100
Schottenring 24
Vienna 1010
Austria
Innere Stadt

While you’re staying in Vienna, you may as well stay somewhere you can enjoy your cigars! The Palais Hansen Kempinski Vienna is a beautiful hotel with spacious, well-appointed rooms, excellent customer service, and its very own cigar lounge off the lobby. There’s a lovely view overlooking a lake, comfortable couches, and a chilled-out, relaxing vibe. The Cigar Lounge is extremely cosy. The staff there can give you advice on pairings.
