Sometimes big things come in small packages, and Partagas 2014 release of their D series Size #6 is no exception. Don’t let appearances fool you. This midget of a robusto packs plenty of surprises, and all of them good ones. It is a perfect choice if you do not have a ton of time, but want to indulge yourself with a classic habanos cigar. Grab yourself a tasty beverage and sit down for a nice ride to the Caribbean.

    Appearance : [rating:3.5/5]
Packed in a single layer in a modified wooden cabinet, this smoke just begs to be enjoyed. Rich brown color, minimal spines and scarce blooming highlight an aesthetically pleasing miniature stogie. They literally look just like their larger D4 brethren and have the same ring size, just shorter.

    Construction : [rating:3.5/5]
Cigar tends to have the wrapper to separate at the foot upon clipping. A minor annoyance, but it is noticeable. Wrapper tends to be VERY fragile, and were the cigar any longer, I would have concerns as to whether / when the wrapper would suffer major separation issues. Light was absolutely effortless with plumes of rich smoke and a very light draw. Burn was consistent from foot to head, a plus in my book. Did not have to correct the burn on any of the sticks I have enjoyed so far. Cigar was firm enough to not be spongy, and the light grey ash held with the stick for some period of time.

    Flavor : [rating:3/5]
Upon lighting, you pick up some pretty intense woody notes with a moderate amount of aftertaste. The stick is ready to be enjoyed straight upon delivery, but if you have the time and patience, you would most likely end up with considerably better results if you stuck this one back and let it age a bit. Its flavor profile is a bit “green” for my tastes, but I picked up enough from the experience to know that this little tyke packs a big punch that could only magnify itself as the tobacco has a chance to rest and properly age. The smoke is too short to divide into thirds, but the flavors you get are what you would expect from Partagas.

    Value : [rating:4/5]
You get your money’s worth with this cigar. Big taste in a small package that is not only convenient to consume if you are short on time, but also promises more things to come if you gently coax the flavors you will inevitably find with this fine Cuban.

    Overall Rating : [rating:3.5/5]
I can see this smoke being a quite successful release for Partagas. They incorporated their classic construction and woody flavor profile with a short and easy to enjoy length. The only real drawback I think the stick shows is that you are just starting to enjoy the thing, and you are already down to the butt. Maybe if they lengthened the D6 just a little bit, your experience might be a bit richer. I would buy this cigar again, given the opportunity. A nice, nice smoke, indeed.

    Enjoy!!!

Had one 2 days ago … & it did surprise me – tasty, stronger/ nears full body, very nice 35 minutes.
Will be after these ones again esp. during the winter as one can hardly stay above 1/2 an hour outside during the freezing days.

Looks like the perfect size for those cold Canadian winter days when you want a satisfying smoke, but not 90 minutes outside!!

I have had a few “Tins of 5” of the D6 vitola. Highly recommended.
