    Origin : CubaRomeo y Julieta
    Format : Sobresalietes
    Size : 153 X 53
    Release : 2016
    Brand strength : Medium
    Price : £30

Named after William Shakespare’s tragic lovers, the origin of Romeo y Julieta as Habano date back to 1875. Wiston Churchill became a devote to the brand and following his visit to Havana in 1946, his name has not been commemorated on a band, but it has also served to describe the marque’s most famous size…Romeo y Julieta Churchills.

    Appearance : [rating:4/5]
The Romeo y Julieta Capuletos is the first limited edition launched in 2016 and the only sobrasaliente size in the brand. The stick looks very elegant and serious with a dark wrapper, which is unusual for RyJ, quite veiny and with two bands, the first classic RyJ red and yellow band and the second, black and gold, announcing that the production is limited. Almost with no oil in the wrapper the cigar is still soft and velvety to touch revealing a good quality leaf is been used to wrap it.

    Construction : [rating:3/5]
The cigar is well rolled and perfectly fit the factory name “Sobrasaliente” referring to his heavy ring gage and length.
The cold draw show that the cigar is well constructed with a good draw and notes of lather and cedar wood.
Once lit the cigar will burn evenly and consistently, the ash is of a light gray color, solid and compact, and the smoke produced is medium. ?

    Flavor : [rating:2/5]
The first third of the cigar is of a medium strength, with a good flavor intensity and a creamy texture. The smoke rich the palate at a good temperature, to appreciate at best all the flavor, and linger at the back of palate. The stick has some sweetness but never too present, and shows flavor of cedar wood, leather, sweet spices, and a hint of cocoa and a kind of grapefruit skin… quite bitter.
During the second third the smoke gain a bit of temperature and the body increase slightly from medium to medium full, the flavor profile remain the same not much sweetness going on and still this bitterness at the back of the palate which is at the very edge, it can easily become annoying for palates who doesn’t like bitter flavor.
The last part of the cigar is the most intense, and show that the cigar is not ready to smoke yet but have a good potential to age, the strength is at the peak and we have aromas of cocoa, nuts, wood, spice and some toastiness, the smoke takes over all the palate now and is very intence, leaving behind a lot of harsh and pungent flavors .

The smoking time is about 1h 15 min.

    Value : [rating:2.5/5]
As we all know cigars are slightly more expensive in the UK, especially when talking about limited editions cigars, than anywhere else due to the market high taxation. It can be a good investment with the purpose of aging the sticks. Overall I think it is an expensive cigar.

    Overall Rating : [rating:2/5]
The Romeo and Julieta – Capuletos is a decent cigar, good construction and tobacco quality. I personally didn’t enjoy this cigar as it was too “green” to smoke – even if the leaves have been already aged for two years prior to the rolling – that means that is not ready to smoke yet and need to spend some more time in the humidor to soften all the harsh flavors and gain more balance and equilibrium.
I would recommend it to smokers with a bit of experience as display complexity, and at this stage a lot of ash flavors and bitterness. It is a cigar that should be smoked after a meal maybe with a nice spirit, preferably with some sweetness to cover up all that bitterness.
My rating is based on how the stick does smoke now, even if will certainly improve with age.
