H. Upmann Sir Winston is probably one of the biggest cigars that I’ve ever smoked and one of the most attractive. The rest, well… was a bit much. I like a good cigar that will let you know that it is there, mind you, but this one was too demanding of attention.
Appearance : [rating:4.5/5]
Very nice looking. Long, powerful cigar that makes you think of wealth.
Construction : [rating:4/5]
Very very good from the first appearance and even the feel. It was a nice even burn all the way through. Someone did their homework on cigar construction with this one.
Flavor : [rating:3/5]
First, I’d like to say that I am sure there are people that would rate this cigar very high. For me though, it came on far too strong and rough at the initial lite-up. The flavor was all wood, stout musk and powerful. Almost too much for my palate. The second thirds was about the same. The final third, well, to be honest I just couldn’t make it through it. This one just didn’t work well for me.
Value : [rating:3/5]
A little much for such an ovewhelmingly stout smoke.
Overall Rating : [rating:overall/5]
I know that this cigar is probably made for the more experienced smoker, one who goes through several a day. After a bit your palate seems to adjust and require a stronger smoke. But all in all, if you have a tender palate at all, you’d best shop elsewhere.

In my opinion this Julieta n.2 is one of the best and my favourite cigar of this vitola. Vitola named also churchill that is one of the most representative of the world of cuban cigars. So that Sir Winston for me is my favourite cigar of great size. A well affined Sir Winston has a equilibrate but not constant taste, a good intensity but never too strong, and a rich flavour with note of… all that a top cigar need to make a great smoking. But I think also that this cigar and in general all big size have to stay in humidor a long time. If too young is similar to most of churchill you can find but after two-three years Sir Winston becomes better every day, with all the character of its brand H.Upmann enhanced at the maximum level. Many other churchill with aging come better but not all like Sir Winston, but it is a personal opinion the only thing that I am sure is that the famous Cohiba Esplendidos never is comparable with Sir Winston but also with the strong Partagas Churchill and Bolivar Royal Coronas or the flavoured Saint Luis Rey or all the Julieta n.2 of Romeo y Julieta brand.

I didn’t like this cigar at first — to strong for me as someone, who started enjoying cigars just recently. I left the rest of the cigars in the humidor for about 4 months until one day I decided to try another stick. What a huge difference it was from the first time! It is now one of my favorites. It is just pleasant, flavorful and highly enjoyable cigar. In my opinion, it needs time to sit untouched for a while to unleash its full potential.

You must be a fresh young smoker than, to not enjoy this delightful fine smoke. I highly enjoyed it. I sat out on the promenade with a companion and we sipped a fine cognac, enjoyed the sir Winstons and watched the sun go down. This cigar is the perfect end to the perfect day. Both my companion and I have set aside a humidor specifically for this premier smoke. Strong? Yes, but in a way that the history smoker will enjoy.
