I have had several cigars with the Don Pepin Garcia name on them. When the opportunity was given to me to review this stick, I had to take it. I had never had this particular cigar, so I was looking forward to doing this one. I have never had a bad Don Pepin Garcia cigar either. So I knew, before I lit it, that I was going to be in a for a good time.

This cigar just looks good. The wrapper is a medium shade of brown with several very thin veins throughout it. There was one vein that was pretty thick that I thought may alter the burn pattern, but it never amounted to anything. The cap of the cigar was perfectly rounded and cut very clean. The stick itself was very solid with not one single soft spot. The only flaw in the construction occurred when I took the band off. The wrapper was peeling underneath the band, but once I wet it, it was fine after that. Before I lit it, the cigar had a strong earthy scent.

This cigar had a wonderful array of flavors throughout the smoke. At first the cigar was very peppery with strong wood and earthy notes. About an inch in or so, there comes a little bit of a chocolate flavor. As the cigar progresses, it becomes more full bodied. The pepper and wood flavors become much stronger. There is still a little chocolate flavor but it tastes as though it morphed into more of a coffee flavor around the half-way point. The last couple inches of the cigar became much more spicy and earthy. The ending was mainly spice. There was not much sweetness left at the end.

This cigar was great for $7.00. To me, 7 dollars is a pretty fair price for this stick. It packed a good punch, it was loaded with flavor, and it was a great size. Now I feel it’s a little too pricey for an everyday smoke, but it is definitely a good buy if you only smoke a couple a week.

The ash was a very nice, medium shade of gray. It was pretty strong as well and held on until the half-way point. The aroma was very earthy, yet had some sweetness to it. The draw was very easy all the way through, and the burn was perfectly even. This cigar was pretty good. I recommend it to anyone who likes medium to full bodied cigars. Yes the cigar is spicy, but the subtle sweet notes counteract it quite nicely.

Nice review. I enjoy everything I smoke from DPG but have not tried this stick yet. Will definitely have to pick some up soon.

I’m glad to see you do reviews on cigars that have been available to us for awhile! I for one have not had the chance to smoke each and every cigar that comes out on the market. It’s good to have this type of feedback whether it’s yeah or nay. I’ve wondered about this cigar for sometime now, and this review has definitely heightened my curiosity about it again.
