In 2013, Camacho did some rebranding and also updated a few of their blends to match up to their “Bold Standard” tagline. The new blend for the Camacho Corojo is similar to the old blend and remains a Honduran puro, but they have amped up the bold flavor and body with new primings. Let’s check it out.

    Appearance : [rating:5/5]
This cigar comes in a tubo which is patterned after the band on the cigar. Both are bright red with the same bold lettering—yes, even the typography matches the “bold” theme of the cigars. In fact, it’s a great design with minimalist, eye-catching appeal. I really like what they’ve done with their rebranding. The wrapper of the cigar is medium brown in color—on the lighter side, but still not really “light.” There is a slight reddish hue to the leaf, which has only a few fine veins and a perfect cap.

    Construction : [rating:5/5]
With firm ash and a razor-straight burn line, there isn’t much to complain about in terms of construction aside from a draw which is just a little bit looser than I would like at times. It may even just be this particular stogie; I’d have to smoke more to find out. Either way, I am really impressed with how sharp the burn line is.

    Flavor : [rating:4/5]
This cigar features a really great mix of flavors. I not only enjoy the individual notes, but also the way they have been crafted together and the way they progress. There really isn’t much difference between the flavors in the revamped Camacho Corojo Robusto and the original, save for more of a full-bodied kick.

You start out with spicy wood and sweet molasses. The spiciness fades to the back a bit and the flavors take on a creamy profile. Next you get dark fruit notes like raisin and cranberry along with the citrus sharpness of orange peel. All the while, the wood, spice, and cream continue to dominate. There is another flavor in here that reminds me of some kind of baked pastry or dessert bread, and in the end the spice ramps back up again.

    Value : [rating:4.5/5]
You can buy the Camacho Corojo Robusto Tubo for around $7 a stick, which is not at all a bad price for the level of quality here.

    Overall Rating : [rating:4.5/5] (4.5)
The only complaint I could have about this cigar is the somewhat loose draw, but this is an issue that comes and goes. Thankfully it didn’t bother me most of the time. The razor-straight burn line was great, and the flavors were as excellent as they were with the previous incarnation of the stogie. The Camacho Corojo Robusto remains a very enjoyable smoke. And if you are into full-bodied cigars that pack an extra punch, you will love it more than ever.

Picked up a few of these in an NC sampler and was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the flavour profile of a well constructed stick. Worth trying as something different from the mainstream.

Whoa, some serious spice up front on this cigar. After about a half inch, the cigar settles into a sweet earthy flavor with some notes of coffee, leather, and black pepper. The flavors of this cigar are very consistent and do not change much throughout the cigar.

Although I did enjoy this cigar it wasn’t anything special to me. There is however, a huge following of this cigar by many. I see why they like it, it’s full, it has good flavor, and it’s a good value for what you get. If you are into full bodied pepper bombs, this cigar is for you.

Great review. I enjoyed on the other day and really enjoyed the pepper and spice of this cigar. The draw on mine was fine. I really enjoy their Triple Maduro, one of my favorites.

Nice review, although I find the tweaked version lacks some of the creaminess of the previous blend. Might be a matter of aging though.

Thanks for your review. This stick is also a regular in my humidor.

I enjoyed your review, Ray, and quite agree with you. These are a staple in my humidor. I also enjoy their Triple Maduro, and recently snagged some of the old label Corojo Churchills which do, as you suggest, have slightly less kick but are still delicious!
