Created as an additional line in Linea 1492 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Cohiba. Medio Siglo in translation meaning ‘’half century’’ and is tribute to two of the most popular cigars from the line: Siglo I and VI, the cigar is 4’’ inch long as Siglo I and 52 ring as Siglo VI.
Appearance: Rating: ★★★★★
The latest Cohiba bands have always been very pretty and in a great contrast with the cigar. In this case the wrapper have colour of dark mustard
Construction: Rating: ★★★★1/2
Few cracks appear during smoking. Smoke production is really good, the exact amount to be enjoyable. The draw is slightly tight but doesn’t cause problems. Almost razor burn and not need to relight or retouch the cigar
Flavour: Rating: ★★★★★
The cold draw is a complex mixture of ammonia and blueberries.
After I lit the cigar… There is a big surprise, nothing similar to the cold draw, good complexity and nice flavours of sweet chocolate and leather, very rich finish of dark cocoa.
Moving towards the second part the flavours changed significantly and became very floral and grassy, the finish of the draw is still very flavourful and long, still very cocoa, sweet, almost like brownie. The aroma coming from the cigar is more of sweet oranges.
Last part and the flavours are still very complex and good – pure tobacco plus vanilla and cedar, just before the end there was some harshness which quickly turned into a nice coffee flavour. Other flavours I manage to pick towards the end are dry citrus and crackers.
Value: Rating: ★★
The UK Price of £40 is almost the same as Cohiba Robusto and I would prefer the size of the robusto. But if you want to experience different vitola, the Medio Siglo is definitely good option
Overall Rating: Rating: ★★★★1/2
The flavour is as full as possible. I like the idea of mixing 2 other vitolas in order to make a new one. I found that release even more complex from Robusto. Incredibly slow smoke and good enough smoke production. Burn is excellent also. Good cigar to pair with almost anything because of his good complex flavours
