Casa Turrent are second generation family tobacco growers in Mexico, currently the biggest producers in the country. The 1880 is one of their newest and core lines.

    Appearance: Rating: ★★★★★

Even with the lancero, Casa Turrent 1880 Maduro feels thick, features a nice dark espresso coloured wrapper with minimalistic veins and smooth on touch. Not a very oily wrapper with a nice aroma of earth and leather.

    Construction: Rating: ★★★★

Overall, quite good, very few touch ups, most of the time there are good draw line. Draw is a little bit loose. Huge smoke production.

    Flavour: Rating: ★★★★

Cold draws bring strong flavour of creamy oak and general sweetness

Start off solid creamy oak mixed with full flavoured coffee nibs and earth, retrohale brings a little bit of black pepper.

Second part is significantly more prominent on black pepper perfectly combined with chocolate, creamy oak and the espresso beans are still here but little bit on a second plan.

Retro brings in addition to the black pepper some nice floral notes.

Last third is not much different, except bit of barnyard and tea leaves

    Value: Rating: ★★★★★

Price of that cigar in the UK is currently £16.49 which for a lancero is a very good price.

    Overall Rating: Rating: ★★★★

Cigar looks very interesting, dark with a nice white and red band. I have smoked a few of that line 1880 maduro over the years and it’s quite a linear blend. One difference I notice is that the retrohale has some sweetness which usually I don’t remember on the other vitolas. Good construction and tons of smoke if you are a fan of it.
