Vegas Robaina was created in 1997 after the famous Robaina family known for growing the finest wrapper in the San Luis area in Pinar del Region, in Cuba. At the origin of the creation of the Marca, Don Alejandro, the old man and true legend in the world of cigar was looking after the family plantation. This year Vegas robin celebrates its 20th anniversary.

Appearance
The Vegas Robaina Clasico wears the brand’s typical band that has been on every current production cigars released since its creation on 1997. This beautiful brown gold and dark green band, proudly highlighting the family name initial: R.
The wrapper is Colorado claro, very smooth with few veins. Not very oily but for a cigar of 18 years old it is in pristine condition.
Tasting
1st Part
The cigar draws a bit tight and burns a bit funny at the beginning. A canoe type of burn appears very quickly. This shows a bad construction. Sometimes this could completely ruin a cigar but luckily the burn went over it and it did not affect the cigar for too long.
During this first third, this vintage Clasico develops a nice sweetness on the palate with hints of honey and slight leathery texture on the finish. The finish is quite short and the acidity is very low. There is no signs of bad bitterness. Its all about the subtle flavours.
The aromas is very enjoyable delivering some burnt cedar notes.
The density of smoke is light and the cigar strength as well. Not the typical medium to full official ranking.
2nd Part
The draw is still tight and doesn’t allow the cigar to fully express itself. The burn is regular and constant now. There is no more issues of construction during this second part.
The flavours are evolving to notes of hay, almond and a great toasted bread feeling still with this leathery subtle finish. The aroma is light and discreet with hints of wood.
The sweetness is lower and the bitterness increases a bit more than at the beginning. The smoke density remains light and the strength increases to light to medium
3rd Part
Finally the draw opens up. This really shows a cigar changes and evolves throughout the cigar. One should never give up after one third.
The burn remains good. Some mineral notes and earthiness appear rounded up with a nice cedar wood finish. It is all about this flavour profile as there is no more obstruction from any sorts of bitterness. The cigar ends up medium with a nice density of smoke.
