Punch was created in 1844 by Don Manuel López of Juan Valle & Co, this makes it one of the oldest brand still in production. It was creating with an eye on the fast growing British market where a humorous magasine of the same name was in vogue at that time. Today most of Punch production is being rolled at la Corona Factory in Havana

The punch Regios de Punch comes in a SLB cabinet of 25. This is the third limited edition released by Habanos S.A in 2017 (which is slowly coming out in 2018…).
Last time we saw a Punch limited edition was in 2013 with the Series D’Oro N.2, a very under rated piramides, developing a complex blend.

This Punch Regios De Punch is a short length cigar with a medium ring gauge. A great size for a 30-40 minutes smoke.

At first I was very pleased with the draw, smooth with just the resistance you like. Not too loose not too tight. Just great. Also the first few puffs were surprisingly creamy and smooth. Surprising because this is not the flavour characteristic of Punch and smooth for such a young cigar it is unusual.
Slowly a slight spiciness on the lips and the tip of the tongue starts to develop. It was a very enjoying moment, combining this feeling with the roundness and smoothness of the smoke on the palate. The cigar becomes a bit more vegetal, which is more the brand flavour characteristics. Herbal notes, light density of smoke no bitterness. The strength is also rather light comparing to a regular punch. Toward the end of the first part I just love the aroma. At this time the ash is long and solid. Great construction, as I tapped the ash for the first time I could see a great piramides burning.

The second part still develops a low to medium density of smokes. A very subtle and sweet aroma. The flavours are light to medium surprisingly very creamy texture with notes of almond and nuts.

Towards the end a complete change of flavours happens with a nice fresh earthiness. Aromas reminding of freshly cut grass.
I really enjoyed the freshness of the blend towards the very end melting on the palate with a very strong dark cocoa bean flavours.
The great thing is that the cigar does not over heat. A slight sig of youth towards the very end as some bitterness appears on the palate. The strength increases slightly and flavours becoming richer with a very enjoyable Woodiness. Really well balanced blend.
