Author: Inspector X
West Tampa Tobacco Co. is gearing up for the release of its new limited edition cigar, Boliche Blvd., which was initially teased at the 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show. The cigar draws its name from the nickname given to Columbus Drive in Tampa, Florida, renowned for its plethora of Cuban and Latino restaurants serving boliche—a traditional Cuban dish featuring eye-round beef stuffed with ham and served with rice, often likened to pot roast.
Master blender and co-owner Rick Rodriguez expressed the personal significance of the cigar, emphasizing the brand’s mission to honor Tampa’s rich cigar-making history, celebrate its vibrant present, and contribute to shaping its promising future. In collaboration with the legendary Oliva Tobacco Company, headquartered in Tampa and known for its tobacco cultivation in various countries, Boliche Blvd. aims to embody the essence of Tampa.
While specific details about the blend remain undisclosed, West Tampa Tobacco Co. has revealed that the tobacco used hails from Oliva Tobacco Co. The limited edition Boliche Blvd. is presented in a 6 x 60 Gordo vitola, priced at $12.99 per cigar. The release is restricted to 500 boxes, each containing 50 cigars, and production is handled by the renowned Nicaragua American Cigars S.A., commonly referred to as NACSA, the factory where Raul Disla runs a tight ship and where many private label cigars are made.
Scheduled to hit stores on November 27, Boliche Blvd. will be available to both U.S.-based and international retailers, offering enthusiasts a unique and flavorful experience that pays homage to the cultural and culinary tapestry of Tampa.
