Weekly news week 5 2020. For the last few months, we did an irregular Facebook Live with a couple of friends. And we decided to post the video’s on our website too. Last Sunday we posted the first episode, which was shot a few months ago. If you have an hour and a half to spare to listen about a few guys talking cigars and spitting jokes, go watch.

Reviews and news

Last week we started with a Year of the Rat marathon. There are more and more companies that release a limited edition for the Chinese New Year, following the Chinese Zodiac Calendar. We reviewed a few. Sunday we published the Brick House Year of the Rat. Followed by the Davidoff Year of the Rat. The Romeo y Julieta Maravillas was the next one. The last one in the series was the Liga Privada Unico Year of the Rat. And for our regular Friday review, we picked an Alfambra G Series Robusto.

With the TPE Trade Show in Las Vegas, there’s a lot of news. Alec Bradley is releasing a budget line called Caribbean Classic. Gurkha is releasing a Maduro version of the Prize Fighter and a new line called Castle Hall. Ventura is releasing new Archetypes. But there is also news that’s not related to the Tobacco Plus Expo. Drew Estate is releasing a limited edition Year of the Rat. Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust announced a Muestra de Saka Unstolen Valor for later this year. And Casa Cuevas is turning their limited edition La Mandarria into regular production. Jas Sum Kral is expanding its international reach into Lebanon and Australia. Vintage Rock-A-Feller is adding a box-pressed Churchill to the Blue Dominican line. Maya Selva comes with a Villa Zamorano Reserva Soberano and a cool sampler. All while Corleone Cigars is moving most of the production from Costa Rica to Nicaragua.

Ministry of Cigars - Weekly news week 5 2020

The German tobacconist Whisky & Cigar Salon in Gronau will be hosting the first annual cigar fair this spring. Casdagli Cigar is introducing the brand new Daughters of the Wind Lancero in The Netherlands. And they do that with an event in Eindhoven. Davidoff is hosting a dinner in Yorkshire, United Kingdom. And this summer, La Casa del Habano Almere is setting sail for the third Smoke on the Water. There will be no event in Bussum, as the 87-year-old tobacconist Roks Sigaren closed the doors forever.
