Weekly news week 45 2019. This week, we published an interview with Mike Choi, former Habanos Sommelier UK, and runner up at the 2014 Habanos Festival. Choi is launching a new company, bringing boutique cigars to the United Kingdom.

We reviewed two cigars this week. The first one was the Siempre Sun Grown Toro by Dapper Cigars. And we also reviewed the Antigua Esteli Segovia Maduro Toro.

The news

The news came from Casdagli Cigars. The company is releasing a lancero for the Daughters of the Wind line. But that’s not all, distribution will expand into the Middle East, and Casdagli Cigars opened a new Bespoke Cigar Lounge by Casdagli in the beautiful old center of Tallinn, Estonia. Alec Bradley announced that they will release their Project 40 Internationally. And they found distributors for Taiwan, Lithuania, and Serbia.

Jas Sum Kral changed its distributor in Malaysia, the new distributor is Puros Asia. And Oliva is releasing a figurado version of the Oliva Serie V Melanio Maduro. For now, it’s unclear if the release is limited or regular production. Although Oliva told the cigar would be sold in the United States only, it’s confirmed that Cigaragua in Amsterdam is getting stock too. El Viajante changed its name to Stogie Road Cigars and released a limited edition Lancero.

Habanos news

This week was a good week for the fans of Habanos. Two new cigars were released or announced. Those are the Romeo y Julieta 8 Maravillas, a cigar specifically made for Chinese New Year. And the Quai d’Orsay Baalbeck Exclusivo Libano, a Duke size format exclusively for the Lebanese market. But sources close to Habanos told us that the Behike 58 project was canceled. The rumors about a new Behike started spreading like wildfire last week after test blends surfaced. But according to our sources, the project was canceled after feedback from Habanos distributors.

The final piece of news this week came from Germany. The luxury brand HENK, known for its uber-luxury bags but also their Henk Maori cigars are working on a travel humidor. And as always with HENK, it’s super strong, well designed and beautifully styled.
