Weekly news week 40 2020. With Covid-19 keeping the world in its grip, it’s no surprise that the cigar industry is affected. Some factories faced lockdowns, others only function of minimum capacity. For others, shipping is the problem. With limited international flights, limited cargo moves from country to country. Add a mini-boom of high demand, and the supply chain is severely interrupted. The Philip & Ferdy Cigar Show Episode 26 is featuring three Havana Club rums and a Montecristo Double Edmundo.

Reviews 

The reviews of this week are the Gurkha Marquesa Toro and the Cimarron Connecticut Robusto. Both cigars from the Dominican Republic. Gurkha comes from an undisclosed factory. Cimarron is a brand from Tabacalera El Artista. And even though the Cimarron is a Connecticut Shade cigar, it scored well. 

New cigars and other news

The Italian cigar manufacturer Manifatture Sigaro Toscano releases two piccolo cigars. One in a Fermentato and one in a Rustica blend. There is a new limited edition Habanos jar in Spain. 19 vintage Romeo y Julieta Short Churchills in a classic jar. The design of the jar draws its inspiration from the jars of the mid 20th century. Davidoff announces the annual Zino Platinum Crown Limited Edition. The 2020 version is a 5×60 Gran Robusto. Warped Cigars introduces an experimental blend named Jason Dumont.

Cigar artist Jessi Flores launches the new victms1975 website full of new designs of cigar apparel. The new site features collaborations with other artists to raise funds for the healthcare of Jessi’s sick daughter Stephanie Nicole. Oscar Valladares loses its German distribution over providing incorrect information in the last six months. The distributor lost confidence and discontinued the relationship. But there is also good news from Germany. The first Habanos Terrace opens in Dusseldorf.

Other news

Last week, President Trump rolled back some of President Obama loosened restrictions on Cuba. With the war talk about Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua in the last two years that might just be step one. Sources talk about a heightened diplomatic activity at the American embassy in Managua. So we wonder, could Nicaragua be next? There is a new distributor in Poland. It’s a new month, so the birthday calendar gets an update. And October means Bricktober month for J.C. Newman.
