June 2020

Weekly news week 26 2020. A week in where we posted an opinion piece on cigar subscriptions. Are they worth it? But a clear answer we could not give, as there are many subscriptions out there. Some are value for money, others are not. Plus we published the latest episode of the Philip & Ferdy Cigar Show. Our guest via zoom is Mitchell Orchant from C.Gars Ltd and we smoked the Alec Bradley Orchant Seleccion Orchie. A limited-edition, exclusively for C.Gars Ltd and Turmeaus Tobacconist in the United Kingdom.

Reviews

As usual, two reviews were published. We reviewed the Davtian Trinidad Robusto Gordo. A Dominican made Armenian cigar. And on Friday it was time for the Sinistro The Last Cowboy Corona. Another Dominican cigar, made at the La Aurora Factory. The oldest cigar factory in the Dominican Republic

Orchant Seleccion

In the latest Philip & Ferdy Cigar Show, Mitchell Orchant released the news that the next Orchant Seleccion will be made by Plasencia. Now that’s all the news we had. Plasencia has factories in Nicaragua and Honduras, we will keep digging for more information. We do know the size by now but keep that for our follow-up article. The Balmoral Ańejo XO Nicaragua is finally available in The Netherlands and some other European markets. Plus Ernesto Perez-Carrillo is releasing a new line called Pledge.

Brûlée Blue and Habanos

Habanos changes the packaging on the tripa costa Jose L. Piedra cigars. The logo is updated and the bundles of 25 are reduced to bundles of 12. Kafie Cigars and Foundation Cigar Company are on its way to Malaysia. The latest news from Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust is about the Sobremesa Brûlée Blue. This limited edition, ring gauge 46 cigars, is expected at select American retailers in August. With a limited production of 13.000 cigars, none will be released internationally.

Cigarbone

We have written about the HENK Cigarbone a few times. As beta-testers of the prototype, we are in love with the versatile travel humidor. It doubles as a cigar holder, accessory holder, and ashtray. And now there are new sizes, for the lovers of extra-thick cigars. And different colors, both of the bone and the caps. You can now re-create the flag of your country, or any other message you want to broadcast. Voting for the Cigar Trophy is open, so vote for your favorite cigars that made the shortlist. Vote for the best lounge, and vote for your favorite accessory. So vote for the Cigarbone.
