Weekly news week 23 2020. The week started with the International Enjoy a Cigar Day. Now if you missed it, put it on the calendar for next year. May 31st is international enjoy a cigar day. And yes, that’s the same day as International no tobacco day, but that celebration sucks.Â
Reviews
As usual, two reviews were published. The first review this week wasn’t really a success. The Luis Martinez Silver Selection Churchill comes in a beautiful glass tube but it is best to keep that cigar in the tube and not smoke it. The second cigar is the new Rocky Patel Number 6 Robusto. And that’s a cigar we did enjoy, a lot.
Norway, Joya, and Cavalier
Last week, we brought the news about new cigars for Norway. This week, we had more good news for the Norwegian cigar aficionados. Sinistro, DBL, and Camaleon cigars are going to the Nordic country. Joya de Nicaragua scored two articles. First for the release of the new Joya de Nicaragua Numero Uno Premier. The second article is the news that the Joya de Nicaragua Cuatro Cinco Edicion Asia is available in Malaysia. And Cavalier Geneva is on it’s way to Angola. Cigars from Tabacalera El Artista are now available in Austria as well.
Balmoral, La Gloria Cubana and Drew Estate
Scandinavian Tobacco Group, the new owner of Royal Agio released a sampler with four Rothschild Massivo cigars from the Balmoral Añejo series. All four blends, including the new Balmoral Añejo Nicaragua, are included. After three years of waiting, the La Gloria Cubana Británicas Extra is released. These regional editions for the United Kingdom are part of the 2017 Edicion Regional program from Habanos. Davidoff is re-releasing a limited edition from 2002. In that year, their first Dominican Puro came to the market. And now that Davidoff Special 53 Capa Dominicana is back, in very limited supply. Drew Estate is launching a line-extension for the coffee-infused Tabak Especial. Both available blends will see a 6 ¾ x44 Lonsdale added to the line-up
Hector Vanegas
There was also sad news this week. Hector Vanegas, the manufacturing manager for STG Esteli passed away at the young age of 50. He is a victim of the global Covid-19 pandemic. He is survived by his wife and two children.
