Weekly news week 1 2020. First of all, we wish everybody a happy new year. And we revealed some of our plans for the year to come. But not before we published our first part of the history of Royal Agio. With the intended sale of the company to Scandinavian Tobacco Group, it’s a good time to look into the 115-year-old history of this Dutch, family-owned, cigar company. And as always, we reviewed two cigars this week. We ended the year with the Tatuaje Fausto IT MM19, an exclusive Tatuaje for Italy. And we started the new year with a unicorn. A chubby unicorn. This cigar by Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust is not available for sale and only a handful of people smoked it.

The News

We are making some changes to our style of reviews. After a year of reviewing, we felt that our scoring system needed a little tweaking. And so we adjusted the scoring effective January first. The reasoning why is explained here. But our Top 25 for 2019, with Joya de Nicaragua as a clear winner, uses the old scoring. Just like the top 25 bang for the buck list.

We also published the Cigar Industry birthdays for January, so get the presents and birthday wishes ready. And we wrote about a new limited edition humidor by Ernesto Perez Carrillo. Ernesto Perez Carrillo releases a humidor with never released before perfectos from his Encore and La Historia lines to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his brand. A limited number of 30 humidors are available in Switzerland.
