Tobacco Plus Expo delayed until May. The first tobacco trade show of the year usually takes place in January, in Las Vegas. It’s the Tobacco Plus Expo, a trade show for all things tobacco. Unlike the IPCPR/PCA trade show, all tobacco-related products are welcome. Vape, Hookah, cigarettes, pipes, accessories, and others are all included. It’s much like Intertabac in Dortmund yet smaller. Intertabac is the largest tobacco trade show in the world.

In the last few years, Tobacco Plus Expo is more active in attracting premium cigar manufacturers to enter the trade show. The popularity of the trade show is growing within the cigar industry for several reasons. The timing, the costs, the way the show reimburses visitors and participants all make the Tobacco Plus Expo one of the fastest-growing trade shows in the United States.

New dates

Due to the covid-19 pandemic, the Tobacco Plus Expo is postponed to May 12-14. The originally scheduled date is late January. The location remains the same, the Las Vegas Convention Center. Even though the dates are pushed back a couple of months, TPE is still the first tobacco trade show of the year. PCA takes place in July and Intertabac is scheduled for September. Earlier this year, we advocated for trade shows in the spring instead of summer and autumn. Plus we suggested a collaboration between Tobacco Plus Expo and PCA, a suggestion that we still recommend.

Ben Stimpson, managing director of TMG, said in a press release that “A lot of work has already gone into the planning of a blockbuster TPE 2021, so when we were presented with the opportunity to move the show to May, we knew we needed to jump on it. It is our hope that the later timing allows the uncertainties surrounding COVID-19 to improve and gets us well out of the range of the traditional winter flu season. Plus, the warmer weather of May gives us more options to safely execute the business and networking aspects of the show.”
