The Perfect Blend: La Aurora and Jacob & Co. Unveil a Limited-Edition Watch, Humidor, and Cigar Set
Luxury cigars and exquisite timepieces seamlessly intertwine, resulting in no shortage of awe-inspiring collaborations. The latest venture unites the esteemed Dominican cigar artisan, La Aurora, with the renowned luxury jeweller Jacob & Co. The outcome? A remarkable La Aurora-branded watch that not only showcases the oldest Dominican cigarmaker’s legacy but also includes a humidor and exclusive limited-edition cigars.
The focal point of this collaboration is the Epic X watch collection by Jacob & Co., a series of timepieces that has graced notable partnerships with luminaries such as soccer icon Cristiano Ronaldo and luxury car manufacturer Bugatti. The Epic X La Aurora timepiece stands out as a skeleton watch with exposed inner workings, featuring a 44mm rose gold case adorned with intricate embellishments like the La Aurora name, logo, and a depiction of their classic No. 1 perfecto cigar.
For aficionados investing in this exclusive timepiece, each purchase comes with a humidor and a set of 10 La Aurora 120th Anniversary Limited Edition cigars. These cigars, part of a larger regular-production line released last year to commemorate La Aurora’s 120th anniversary, boast a 6-inch length and 58-ring gauge. Crafted entirely with Dominican tobacco, including a Habano ’92 wrapper, Olor binder, and a blend of Piloto Cubano, Olor, and Corojo filler, these double-tapered perfectos pay homage to La Aurora’s inaugural Preferidos from 1903. Packaged in hinged, coffin-like tubos reminiscent of the original presentation, only 2,500 10-count boxes were produced this year at La Aurora S.A. in the Dominican Republic.
The exclusivity extends to the watches, with a limited production of only 10 units, seven of which were pre-sold to Guillermo León of La Aurora and his inner circle. The remaining three sets are available exclusively at Jacob & Co. brick-and-mortar stores in New York City, Miami, and Geneva, Switzerland, each bearing a suggested retail price of $48,000.
This collaboration echoes a trend where cigar companies join forces with watchmakers, a trend exemplified by partnerships such as La Palina and Accutron, Arturo Fuente and Hublot, Altadis and B.R.M. Chronographes, and Cohiba and Zenith. Notably, Pacific Cigar Co. Ltd., the distributor of Habanos, recently unveiled a humidor featuring Cuban cigars and a timepiece from Cuervo y Sobrinos, adding to the rich tapestry of these elegant alliances.
