Tatuaje releases new Serie P Miami. The small-batch line from Pete Johnson will see a 4×50 sized cigar in the earlier part of the second quarter of 2020. With the new addition, there will be three sizes of the Tatuaje Serie P Miami. The other two vitolas are a 5×50 Robusto and a 5⅝x46 Corona Gorda.

The small-batch cigars are mixed filler. The clippings from the Tatuaje Brown Label are used as fillers for the Tatuaje Serie P Miami. The filler tobacco is wrapped in an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. Two Nicaraguan binders complete the cigar. The Miami addition to the name comes from the place where the cigars are rolled. The production is done at the El Rey de Los Habanos factory in Miami. The factory is part of the My Father Cigars headquarters in the south Florida city.

The cigars are packed in bundles and then wrapped in foil just like the other two sizes. It is highly unlikely that the Tatuaje Serie P Miami will make it to international markets, especially Europe. That’s due to two reasons. First is the limited production. But for Europe, another reason is added. Where cigars made in Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica, and the Dominican Republic are free of any additional import charges, tobacco products from the United States aren’t. For American made cigars, a tariff of 24% is added. And that’s before tobacco tax, sales tax, margins for distributors and retailers. It makes the cigars too expensive for the European markets.

If you’re wondering why we didn’t mention Cuban cigars in the paragraph above, that’s because Cuban cigars are hit with the same tariff as American cigars. But that’s for an upcoming article somewhere in the next few months.
