SpecialsTatuaje ME II launched internationally
Author: Inspector Z
Tatuaje ME II launched internationally. Pete Johnson introduced the Mexican Experiment sequel at the Intertabac Trade Show in Dortmund last month. But the cigars hadn’t arrived at the European warehouse yet at that time.Â
Mexican Experiment
In 2011, Johnson started to experiment with San Andres wrapper from Mexico, hence the name Mexican Experiment. During that time, he released a few different limited edition cigars under the Mexican Experiment name. And now he decided to bring them back. The original Mexican Experiment, or ME in short, returns as a limited edition in bundles for the American market. But the sequel, the ME II (or ‘me too’) is a regular production cigar that’s available for international markets as well.
The cigars are made from Nicaraguan tobacco as filler and binder. The wrapper is of course from Mexico, from the San Andres region. It’s a San Andres Oscuro. The cigars come in four different sizes. Those are a 5×52 Belicoso, a 5×52 Robusto, 5¾x50 Toro, and a 6½x48 Churchill. The cigars are made at My Father SA in Esteli, Nicaragua. According to Johnson, it’s a medium to full bodied cigar, not overwhelming but with a lot of flavor.
El Triunfador Favoritos
Another new Tatuaje cigar that’s available internationally is the El Triunfador Favoritos. It’s a 4×50 Longfiller, based on and named after the Quintero Favoritos. Johnson explained that he likes to buy smaller brands like Quintero when he’s traveling, as they satisfy his smoking habits at a price friendly level. But Johnson didn’t want to copy the flavor nor the short filler tobacco from Quintero. So he created a Longfiller in that small size, yet for a very affordable budget price. The cigar is made at the second, smaller, factory that the Garcia family owns in Esteli, Nicaragua, Tabacalera Cubana.Â
The blend of the cigar consists of Nicaraguan tobaccos for the binder and filler. The wrapper is Ecuadorian Habano. To cut down the cost, the cigars aren’t packed in boxes, but come in bundles of 25. The blend is different than the regular El Triunfador blend.
