Special Edition of Rocky Patel Special Edition for The Netherlands. In 2016, Rocky Patel introduced the Rocky Patel Special Edition. A line made exclusively for brick & mortar shops, not for the online megastores. Only the top 200 retailers in the United States are allowed to carry these cigars. And the top international distributors.

The blend and sizes

The cigar is made with fillers from Rocky Patel’s tobacco farms in Nicaragua. That’s also where the cigars are made. In Esteli, at Tavicusa. Tavicusa is the factory that Patel owns with his business partner Amilcar Perez. The wrapper is an eight-year-old Ecuadorian Habano. Patel didn’t reveal the binder, except for the fact that the cigar has a double binder.

The cigars all come in ten-count boxes. The regular sizes available are a 5½x50 Robusto, a 6½x52 Toro, and the 6×60 Sixty. 

Corona Gorda

But there is a small limited batch of Corona Gorda. 200 boxes of this 5×48 Corona Gorda are made. These boxes all ended up at Longfiller Company, the Dutch distributor for Rocky Patel. And so this special size is only available in The Netherlands. All at the Cigaragua shop in Amsterdam. 

Cigaragua is the world’s first and so far only cigar shop that only carries Nicaraguan cigars. It’s the brainchild of Longfiller Company owner Sasja Van Horssen. During a trip to Nicaragua in 2015, Van Horssen got the idea of creating a shop with Nicaraguan cigars only. He figured if Habanos could do it with La Casa del Habano, then why couldn’t Nicaragua do it. With the quality of Nicaraguan cigars, it would be a huge success. And it is so far. 

International shipping

For all Rocky Patel fans outside of The Netherlands, don’t worry. Cigaragua does ship internationally. We just ordered a box of these rare and limited cigars. With only 200 boxes of 10 cigars, the stock is limited and rare. As far as our sources can tell us, Rocky Patel isn’t planning on making this size again.
