Sans Pareil has announced the appointment of David J. Swinburne as its new President and CEO, marking a significant development for the company. Swinburne, one of the five shareholders and board members of Sans Pareil, has assumed an active role after previously maintaining a silent presence due to his involvement in various other projects. His professional background encompasses business transformation, specializing in mergers and acquisitions, large-scale program delivery, global supply chain solutions, and premium cigar retail.

Swinburne, also a co-founder of La Cultura Cigar & Social in downtown Kansas City, Mo., brings a wealth of experience to his new leadership role. Expressing his enthusiasm, he stated, “It’s an honour to work with a brand as special as Sans Pareil. Meeting with Jochy Blanco at Tabacalera Palma made the decision to lead Sans Pareil an easy one. The quality of leaves and passion the factory pour into these impeccable cigars is unmatched. I’m excited to build the right team to share these stories and cigars with our partners and clients around the globe who share our same passion for the highest quality tobacco.”

Sans Pareil, introduced to the market in the first half of 2017, stands out with three core lines: Red, Blue, and Purple. The company adheres to stringent quality standards, using Dominican tobacco for the binder and filler and selecting only the top one percent of leaves for its blends. The brand’s name, derived from the French phrase meaning “without equal,” reflects its commitment to excellence.

As Sans Pareil enters a new phase of expansion and innovation, Swinburne is tasked with driving the company’s strategic vision and growth initiatives. While the three core lines remain unchanged, a new line and two modifications to the Gold Line are planned for the 2024 PCA Convention & Trade Show in March. Swinburne emphasized a focus on expansion in both the U.S. and international markets, citing positive feedback from various geographies. This shift in leadership, according to Swinburne, aligns with the company’s goal of bringing fresh perspectives to elevate Sans Pareil to new heights. Additionally, it was noted that Aaron Saide, the former face of the company, departed in early 2023 to pursue other projects outside of Sans Pareil.
