SpecialsSacrificio Cigars: Julio Cabrera Expands His Legacy from Cocktails to Cigars with Oliva Cigar Co.
Café el Sacrificio is a bar in Cuba and the son of the owner is no other than Julio Cabrera, a well-known and respected bartender with a specialty on Cuban cocktails. Cabrera, and his Café La Trova in Miami are nominees for the Spirited Wards at Tales of the Cocktails 2023.
And now Cabrera, who was trained as a bartender in his family’s bar in Cuba before he was sent to learn hospitality in Europe by the Cuban Government, is getting into cigars. Cigars named after the family bar, Sacrificio Cigars. Helping him is another Cuban American family, the Oliva family.
Sacrificio will debut with four cigars, all four in a different size and blend. The Junior is a 5×550 Robusto with an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over Cameroon binder and Nicaraguan filler. The Elegante is a 7×38 Lancero with Ecuadorian Habano Claro as a wrapper over an Ecuadorian Sumatra binder and Nicaraguan filler.
The third cigar is the Maestro, a 6½x52 Torpedo with a Sumatra wrapper from Ecuador and an Ecuadorian Habano binder. Fillers come from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. And there is a 6×60 Caballo with an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper and binder over Nicaraguan filler.
“Throughout my life, I have admired my father’s love for cigars, so my vision for Sacrificio Cigars became dedicated to honouring my family’s strong Cuban heritage and our rich cultural traditions,” said Cabrera in a press release. “To ensure the highest quality, we’ve partnered with award-winning Oliva Cigar Co. to create a super-premium line of cigars made with the finest ingredients and an exceptional, unique taste to elevate the smoking experience for beginners and connoisseurs alike.”
