Room 101 expanding Big Payback Maduro line. Last week, at the Tobacco Plus Expo in Las Vegas, Matt Booth showed the fourth size of The Big Payback Maduro line. The new cigar is named the Room 101 The Big Payback Maduro Papi Chulo and measures 4½x50. That is bigger than the Papi Chulo cigars that Booth released in the past.

The Big Payback

Room 101 The Big Payback originally stems from 2014. Booth created a premium cigar for an affordable price as a payback to the loyal Room 101 customers. But when he left his contract with Davidoff in 2017, he gained the rights to the name. And last year he released the Room 101 The Big Payback Maduro.

Unlike the original release, the new The Big Payback isn’t a Nicaraguan puro. The cigar uses tobaccos from Honduras, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic as a filler. The binder is Connecticut Shade with a Connecticut Broadleaf binder. The initial release saw a 5¼x50 Robusto, a 6×54 Toro, and a 6×60 Gordo. The Big Payback Maduro Papi Chulo is the fourth vitola in the line.

More paybacks

Back in the day, there was also a Connecticut version of The Big Payback. And Booth said that he is planning to bring back that cigar as well. And possibly other blends to add to The Big Payback series. As Booth also has the rights to other old Room 101 lines, he will likely revisit the lines that struck a chord with the Room 101 smokers in the past. The Big Payback Maduro is rolled at Honduras American Tobacco S.A., the factory of General Cigars in Danli, Honduras.
