SpecialsRocky Patel ALR second edition launched
Author: Inspector Z
Rocky Patel ALR second edition launched both in the United States and International. The ‘Aged, Limited and Rare’ cigars were introduced last year at the IPCPR for the United States and Intertabac for the international markets. The same thing happened with the Aged Limited Rare Second Edition.
The story
The ALR is born in 2015, when a test blend made by Patel at his Nicaraguan TAVICUSA factory showed incredible potential. So Patel had 100.000 cigars made, spread over three sizes. The cigars were stored in an aging room for three years, before they were released in 2018. He kept 10.000 cigars for his personal stock, so 30.000 of each size made it to the market. We reviewed the Rocky Patel ALR Robusto in February of this year.
The Rocky Patel Aged Limited Rare Second Edition is the successor. The cigars were blended in 2017 and stored for two years in the aging room of the TAVICUSA factory. Unlike the first editions, that were round, the Aged Limited Rare Second Edition is a box pressed cigar. And the blend is different too. Where the first edition used an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, the Aged Limited Rare Second Edition spots a Mexican San Andres wrapper. The filler and binder are Nicaraguan for both blends.
Just like last year, three sizes are released. Those are a 5½x52 Robusto, a 6½x52 Toro, and a 6×60 Gordo. The production numbers are a bit higher with 40.000 cigars per size available globally, instead of 30.000 cigars. How many of those cigars are reserved for the international market has not been disclosed by Rocky Patel Premium Cigars. As each individual distributor decides which cigars to introduce to their market, it’s unclear in which countries the ALR Second Edition will be on the market.
