Dominican cigar manufacturer Quesada Cigars is joyfully commemorating 50 years in the industry with the release of two limited-edition cigars named Quesada 50th Anniversary.
Unveiling at the ProCigar Festival in the Dominican Republic later this month, these exclusive cigars will also make an appearance at the PCA trade show in Las Vegas come March.
Reflecting on the company’s five-decade journey, Manuel “Manolo” Quesada, the patriarch, expressed, “Having had the privilege of participating as our industry grew and evolved, we look at the 50 years of our history and developed a cigar that will reflect our manufacturing and blending traditions. As we have commemorated other anniversaries, reaching 50 years as a premium cigar manufacturing company is a milestone to be celebrated.”
50th Anniversary
The Quesada 50th Anniversary is available in two sizes: Toro Prensado, measuring 6 1/4 inches by 56 ring gauge ($17), and a 6-by-60 Perfecto ($19). Both sizes are packaged in 10-count boxes. Crafted in the Dominican Republic, the cigar features an Ecuador Habano wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder, and a blend of Dominican, Nicaraguan, and Peruvian filler tobaccos.
Limited to 2,200 boxes of the Toro Prensado and 200 boxes of the Perfecto, the production also includes two special humidors. One of these humidors will be auctioned off at the ProCigar Festival for charity, while the second will remain with the Quesada family.
Manuel Quesada’s connection to tobacco spans generations, with his great-grandfather serving as a Cuban tobacco broker in the 1880s. Joining the family business at the age of 13, Quesada relocated to Miami in 1960 following the Cuban revolution. With just three rollers, a phone, five bales of tobacco, and $100, he became the first cigar manufacturer to operate out of the Santiago Free Trade Zone in the Dominican Republic, establishing Manufactura de Tabacos S.A. in 1974.
Raquel Quesada, actively involved in the business and Manuel’s daughter, expressed her gratitude, stating, “I am beyond grateful to have worked hand in hand with my father on this special celebration cigar. Fifty years of continuing passion and legacy. Excited to embark on many new adventures together always keeping the flame of the love for cigars burning bright.”
