Puros Asia brings Dunbarton to Malaysia. The new distributor Puros Asia and Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust agreed to an exclusive distribution deal for Malaysia with possibilities to redistribute to other southeast Asian countries.

Last week, Puros Asia announced the distribution for Jas Sum Kral. Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust is the second brand that the new company will represent in Malaysia. Even though Puros Asia is a new company, the man behind Puros Asia isn’t new to the cigar game. Jeremy Tay is a partner in The Cabinet. The Cabinet is a cigar lounge in Kuala Lumpur and was nominated twice as best cigar lounge for Cigar Journal’s cigar awards.

Ministry of Cigars - Puros Asia brings Dunbarton to Malaysia

Dunbarton Tobacco

Steve Saka is the mastermind of Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust. The former CEO of Drew Estate is generally seen as the father of the Drew Estate Liga Privada line. That line was blended by a group of people, including Saka, for Saka’s personal consumption. But the line got released and it turned Drew Estate from an infused cigar company to a cigar manufacturer respected by many cigar enthusiasts. After leaving Drew Estate, Saka took a well-deserved hiatus before he returned to the industry with his own company.

Tay had Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust high on his wish list. So when he was introduced to Saka at the release of the Sin Compromiso El Amsterdammer in Cigaragua, Amsterdam, he took the opportunity. And 6 weeks later, the first order was placed. For the first introduction, Puros Asia decided to go with the Mi Querida, Sin Compromiso, Sobremesa, and Sobremesa Brulee lines. Other Dunbarton blends, such as the Muestra de Saka, Mi Querida Trica Traca and Umbragog might follow later if the first introduction is a success.

Joya de Nicaragua

Most of the cigars for Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust are made in the factory of Joya de Nicaragua. Steve Saka controls the whole process though and is very hands-on when it comes to the production of his cigars. As Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust is still a young and growing, company it doesn’t have time nor manpower to handle international distribution. All the energy goes into the biggest consumer market in the world, the USA. International distribution for Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust is handled by Joya de Nicaragua.
