New World Connecticut gets a Gordo. A.J. Fernandez is adding a 6×60 Gordo to the line up of the New World Connecticut line. It is the first time since the launch of the line that a new size is added. The New World Connecticut debuted in May of 2015.

New World Connecticut

The New World Connecticut is the second release of the New World Series. A series of cigars now consisting of four blends. The New World Connecticut sports a shade-grown wrapper from Connecticut. An American Connecticut, not Ecuadorian Connecticut, a variety often used as well. The binder comes from Mexico. The fillers are Nicaraguan and Brazilian.

The cigars are available in a 5½x46 Corona Gorda. There is also a 5×50 Robusto and a 6×52 Toro. The thickest cigar to date is the 6×54 Belicoso. Next month, the 6×60 Gordo will hit the market. All four New World lines have a Gordo size in the line-up

New World blends

The New World brand debuted with the Puro Especial. It is the first collaboration between A.J. Fernandez and his father Ismael. Ismael Fernandez worked for Plasencia and after his retirement, he joined his son. The cigar was named New World as the Cuban Fernandez family is making cigars in the New World now. But it’s also a nod to the introduction of tobacco to the world in 1492.

Besides the New World Connecticut Puro Especial and Connecticut, there are two other lines. There is a New World Cameroon, with a wrapper from Africa. The last line is the New World Oscuro. That cigar is a Nicaraguan puro. With a dark wrapper from the volcanic Nicaraguan soil.
