New sizes for Mi Querida Triqui Traca. Steve Saka’s Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust released two new vitolas. With that, the line doubled in size from two to four vitolas available.

The two new sizes are Toro and Gordo Extra. They join the Robusto and the Grand Corona. Both the original releases and the new releases are named after the length and girth of the cigar. The Robusto is named 552, the Grand Corona is 648. The new Toro measures 6×52 and is named 652. The Gordo Extra is a 7 inch monster with a ring gauge of an inch, ring 64. That results in the name 764. We reviewed the Mi Querida Triqui Traca 552.

Ministry of Cigars - New sizes for Mi Querida Triqui Traca

Blend and Origin

The Mi Querida Triqui Traca is a tweaked version of the original Mi Querida. To get a stronger version, Saka used some extra Dominican Ligero in the filler. Filler that also contains Nicaraguan tobacco. The binder comes from Nicaragua and the wrapper is a dark Connecticut Broadleaf variety. The cigars are produced at Nicaragua American Cigars S.A. aka NACSA, under the watchful eye of Raul Disla. Disla blended the Unstolen Valor for Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust.

When Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust was asked to participate in the annual release of the firecracker series by the American retailer David Garofalo, Saka agreed. But Steve Saka doesn’t just make another size if he does a store exclusive. He reblends the cigar, and he discovered that a tweaked, stronger version of the Mi Querida worked better in that 3½x50 size. He called it Mi Querida Triqui Traca, Nicaraguan slang for firecrackers tied together.

The feedback was very positive. Cigar enthusiasts kept asking for that blend. After much consideration, Saka caved and decided to release two sizes of the Mi Querida Triqui Traca. And how he expends the line to four sizes. Out of respect and friendship with David Garofalo, owner of Two Guys Smoke Shop, he never released the 3½x50 Firecracker or any size close to that, except for the batches for Garofalo.
