NewsNew Punch Triunfos Cigar Debuts in Switzerland
Author: Usman Dawood
Cuba has introduced a new size to its Punch cigar line, the Punch Triunfos, a petit corona. This new offering will first be available in Switzerland’s Casa del Habano stores on May 3, as part of a strategy by Habanos S.A., the nation’s leading cigar exporter, with plans for a wider release in December.
The Punch Triunfos, measuring 5 1/8 inches with a 42 ring gauge, is encased in aluminium containers inspired by the 1970s. These containers reflect a design choice that harks back to an era known for its distinctive style. The cigars are priced at 80 Swiss francs for a tin of five, which translates to roughly $18 per cigar, positioning them in the premium segment of the market.
Joining the LÃnea Retro line, the Punch Triunfos align with other cigars like the Romeo y Julieta Club Kings and the Partagás Capitols, which were also presented in unique packaging and introduced at a Havana trade fair. The line also features the H. Upmann Regalias and the Hoyo de Monterrey Souvenir de Luxe, further expanding the range of options available to cigar enthusiasts.
The introduction of the Punch Triunfos is more than just an expansion of the Punch line; it’s a continuation of Cuba’s tradition in premium tobacco products. The choice of Switzerland for the initial launch highlights the country’s role as a significant market for luxury cigars, setting the stage for the Triunfos’ reception among a discerning audience.
In essence, the Punch Triunfos adds to Cuba’s legacy in the cigar industry, offering a new option for those who value the nation’s rich tobacco heritage. This addition aims to meet the demand for high-quality, flavourful smokes in a format that caters to preferences for shorter smoking sessions.
