NewsNestor Plasencia Celebrates 75th Birthday with Special Commemorative Cigar
Author: Inspector X
To mark his 75th birthday, Nestor Plasencia Sr., a tobacco industry legend and Cigar Aficionado Hall of Famer, is celebrating in a unique way—with a limited-edition cigar. Unlike most commemorative smokes, this one isn’t available for purchase. Instead, Plasencia Cigars is giving away the special cigar, which comes in a Churchill size, as a gesture of gratitude.
So how can one obtain this exclusive cigar? The Nestor 75 cigars are being distributed as gifts to long-time associates, strategic partners, business accounts, and colleagues who have supported Plasencia’s endeavours over the years. Because it is a token of appreciation, no retail price has been set for the cigar. The blend, made from Nicaraguan tobacco and rolled in Nicaragua, remains largely undisclosed in terms of specific details.
Measuring 7 inches with a 50-ring gauge, the Nestor 75 cigars come in elegant 10-count boxes. While the first shipments were intended to go out today, they have been postponed due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Milton in Florida, and will instead be sent next week. A total of only 750 boxes were produced, making this a truly limited-edition cigar.
The Plasencia family’s history in tobacco dates back to 1865 when they first began growing tobacco in Cuba. However, after Fidel Castro nationalized the tobacco industry, the family left the country. Nestor Plasencia and his father, Sixto, moved to Nicaragua in the early 1960s and began growing tobacco in the Jalapa region. Political turmoil again forced the family to relocate—this time to Honduras during the Sandinista takeover of Nicaragua in the 1970s. Eventually, the family returned to Nicaragua, where they have become the largest producers of premium cigar tobacco in Central America, with Nestor and his son, Nestor Andrés, leading the operation today.
Plasencia credits the success of the business to the people who have been by his side throughout the journey. “The heart of our company is its people,” Plasencia said. “Without them, none of this would be possible.”
