At the upcoming InterTabac 2024 trade fair, Maya Selva Cigars is set to unveil a new regular production line and the latest instalment in its limited edition, Zodiac-themed series.
The new line, VZ Danlí, is part of the company’s Villa Zamorano brand and pays tribute to Danlí, the cigar capital of Honduras. Described by the company as “the genuine expression of its origin,” VZ Danlí is a Honduran puro, meaning it is made entirely from Honduran tobacco. It features a Carmelita wrapper, which is a special varietal grown exclusively for Maya Selva. The binder is from the Trojes region, and the filler is composed of a selection of premium Honduran tobaccos.
The VZ Danlí line will be available in two sizes:
• VZ Danlí Robusto (5 x 50) – priced at $7.50 per cigar (box of 25 for $187.50)
• VZ Danlí Toro (6 x 56) – priced at $8.50 per cigar (box of 25 for $212.50)
These cigars are produced at Fábrica de Puros MSC in Danlí and will start shipping in October.
Additionally, Maya Selva Cigars will continue its tradition of celebrating the Lunar New Year with a limited edition release. The Año de la Serpiente, named for the Year of the Snake, is a 6 1/8 x 52 pirámide. It features a Honduran wrapper grown in the Jamastrán region, a double binder with leaves from Jamastrán and Estelí, Nicaragua, and a filler blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos. The cigar is said to have a bold profile with cedar and earthy notes. Priced at $25 per cigar and $250 for a box of 10, the Año de la Serpiente 2025 will be limited to 2,025 boxes and is scheduled for release in November.
Maya Selva has also revamped the packaging for its two Villa Zamorano lines, which will be displayed at InterTabac 2024. The Villa Zamorano line, known for its value pricing, uses a Sumatra wrapper with a Honduran binder and fillers from Honduras and Nicaragua. The higher-end Villa Zamorano Reserva, now referred to as VZ Reserva, is a Honduran puro with a Jamastrán-grown wrapper. Both lines come in eight sizes, ranging from the Expreso (3 1/2 x 52) to the Churchill (7 x 48).
The updated packaging includes a refreshed VZ logo, new imagery on the Villa Zamorano bundles, and a redesigned secondary band for the VZ Reserva, now located at the foot of the cigar. These newly packaged cigars are already shipping to European distributors and will arrive in the U.S. by October.
The InterTabac 2024 trade fair will take place from September 19-21 in Dortmund, Germany.
