Luciano Cigars is gearing up for the launch of its new cigar line, Underrated, as it steps into 2024. The company emphasizes that this line is born from the art of creating the unexpected from the overlooked.

Underrated boasts a blend with a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder, and a distinctive filler featuring Connecticut broadleaf and Ecuadorian HVA leaves—usually reserved for wrappers. Alongside these, the blend incorporates medio tiempo from Nicaragua’s Pueblo Nuevo region, harvested from the top of the tobacco plant, known for its coveted and distinct flavor. This particular batch of medio tiempo underwent a unique fermentation process, necessitated by heavy rains during the 2020-21 crop year, involving lower temperatures and longer time in the pilones.

Described as “delightfully sweet and bold,” Underrated is more than just a cigar; it’s a statement according to the company. The flavor profile is characterized as dynamic, combining candied sweetness with richness. The strength is noted as medium-full, with a robust body that captivates without overwhelming.

Underrated will be available in four vitolas, all priced under $9, challenging the essence of value and designed to be an affordable luxury cigar:

• Underrated Toro Especial – 6 1/4 x 52 — $8.20 (Box of 20, $164)
• Underrated Robusto Extra – 5 1/2 x 50 — $7.90 (Box of 20, $158)
• Underrated Corona Gorda – 5 5/8 x 46 — $7.50 (Box of 20, $150)

Ed Trevino, VP of Sales at Luciano Cigars, expressed his admiration for Luciano’s experimentation with these tobaccos, highlighting the cigar as a tribute to Luciano’s imagination and ingenious use of high-quality leaves in non-traditional roles.

Manufactured at the Luciano Cigars Factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, Underrated is set to hit retail partners in January 2024.
