Limited edition Inch by EPC. Ernesto Perez Carrillo is releasing a new limited edition inch early next year. The cigar is exactly an inch in diameter, as the name suggests. And it’s 6⅛ inch long. Only 20.000 cigars have been produced for a global release.

The cigar comes packed in boxes of ten. And it’s made with a dark Havana seed wrapper from Connecticut. The rest of the cigar contains Nicaraguan tobacco. It will be for sale in both the USA and select markets in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. How many of the 2000 boxes are reserved for the international markets, or when they are released, is yet unclear. The Swiss distributor confirmed that they have 100 boxes reserved for Switzerland.

Cigar ring gauge

That the inch has a ring gauge of 64 isn’t strange. The ring gauge of a cigar is measured in 1/64 of an inch. Why that is, we would love to know. But we do know that’s the diameter of a cigar is measured that way. And since 64 is an inch, Ernesto Perez Carrillo picked the right name for this line. The ring gauges have been getting bigger and bigger in the last decade. For example, before the cigar boom in the 1990s, a 50 ring gauge robusto was a big fat cigar. And J.C. Newman pushed the boundaries when they released the Diamond Crown series in 1995. All cigars from the line had a 54 ring, something that seemed outrageous back then.

Nowadays, big ring gauge cigars aren’t a rare sight anymore. A robusto is almost considered a skinny cigar. And the real skinny cigars are hard to find. If there was an endogenous species list for cigars sizes like Corona, Lonsdale, and Panatella would be there. And even a 60 ring Gauge isn’t big enough for some. There are several cigars with 70, or even 80 ring gauges available as regular production cigars.
