La Sirena teams up with Tabacalera La Isla. At the end of the summer, La Sirena cigars hopes to release a new blend. And that cigar is coming off the tables at Tabacalera La Isla, the brand new, small factory of Hostos Fernández Quesada. It is the second time in a few weeks that Tabacalera La Isla collaborates with a boutique brand that has quite a following. Just a few weeks ago, Warped Cigars announced a cigar coming from Tabacalera La Isla.
Inspiration
While the blend hasn’t been finalized yet, the main components will be a Mexican wrapper and binder. The use of Mexican tobacco results in the name La Sirena Mexican Mermaid. The inspiration for the cigar is the La Sirena Aniversario Especial. That was the 10th-anniversary cigar for La Sirena from 2019.
The La Sirena Aniversario Especial was a 5¾x54 soft press Robusto. The La Sirena Mexican Mermaid will debut in that vitola as well but there are plans for two or three other vitolas in the near future. The La Sirena Mexican Mermaid will be a regular production line.Â
Even though this is the first time that La Sirena teams up with Tabacalera La Isla, it is not the first time that La Sirena and Hostos Fernández Quesada work together. Before opening Tabacalera La Isla, Hostos Fernandez Quesada worked at Quesada Cigars with his uncle Manolo Quesada. In that position, he was part of the team that was responsible for the La Sirena Oceano, a cigar from 2014.
