Kleinlagel adds new cigars for Germany. The German cigar importer and distributor is responsible for several brands. Brands such as Oveja Negra, Gurkha, Epic, Fratello, Principe, Casdagli, Kelner Boutique Cigars, Kristoff, and a few others. And right in time for summer, brother and sister Klaus and Martine Kleinlagel are adding a few cigars to their portfolio.
Gurkha
Just in time for the start of the holiday season, Gurkha surprises with a new version of the popular baggies. This time in green, with products from the TABSA factory in Nicaragua. It is the factory of Aganorsa Leaf. Recently Gurkha released a few cigars in collaboration with that factory. As always, the baggies are limited in availability. The Gurkha San Miguel Toros are only available in Germany in this sampler.
The sampler bags contain six cigars. Three blend, the Gurkha Treinta, Gurkha Nicaragua, and the San Miguel. Two of each blend, all in a 6×54 Toro size. A sampler bag has a fixed price of 59 euros.
Nordlicht
Sasha Prieser has his cigar club on Facebook, and he turned it into a cigar brand with the help of Kurt Brand of Isthmus Cigars. The cigar, Nordlicht, came out in 2020. And now the cigars are available in Germany through the distribution channel of Kleinlagel.
Martina Kleinlagel says “we started by organizing the import of his increasingly popular cigar brand for Sascha Prieser. We liked the cigars and boxes so much that we have now also actively taken over distribution in southern Germany.”
The cigars available measure 5½x60, 6×54, and 5×52. Germany works with fixed cigar prices and in this case, those are respectively €10,50, €9,90, and €8,90. The blend is all Nicaraguan with an H2000 wrapper from Jalapa. The binder is Criollo 98 Seco from Jalapa. That same tobacco is in the filler combined with Criollo 98 Ligero from Esteli and Condega.
Black Label Trading Company
The annual Bishop’s blend from Black Label Trading Company is coming to German as well. This is a very limited production, and only a small percentage of the 1600 boxes made it to Germany. Those 1600 boxes are a combination of 600 boxes of Robusto, 600 boxes of Corona Larga, and 500 boxes of Lancero.
Bishops Blend boasts big bold flavors of anise, pepper, raisins, and a sweet earthiness on the finish. It is very complex and extremely refined. As with the past vintages, the broadleaf fillers shine at the forefront and are perfectly balanced by the Nicaraguan filler tobaccos,” says James Brown, the founder and master blender of Black Label about this release.
The prices in Germany are € 12.50 for the 5×48 Robusto, € 12.90 for the 6¼x46 Corona Larga, and €14 for the 7×42 Lancero. The cigar is made with an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over Ecuadorian Habano binder. The filler comes from Nicaragua, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania.
