In July of 2021, Dr. Gaby Kafie celebrated his 50th birthday and he announced the release of the Kafie 1901 Serie L to celebrate this milestone. Now, a year later, the cigars are finally ready to be released. Due to the supply chain issues and hurricanes destroying the area around Tabacalera G. Kafie y Cia in Danli Kafie Cigars closed the factory and moved production to Tabacalera La Aurora in the Dominican Republic. That caused the delay.

The cigar is an all-Dominican blend of Kafie 1901 Serie L Natural. La Aurora’s master blender Manuel Inoa worked with Gaby Kafie to create the cigar. The Kafie 1901 Series L has a 5-years-aged Corojo wrapper, grown in the Cibao Valley, as were the binder and filler tobaccos. The leaves all were grown on farms owned by La Aurora.

There will be a robusto, toro, belicoso, Churchill and gran toro, all in boxes of 20 cigars with images of Kafie’s grandparents, along with the steamship the Athenas, on which his grandfather travelled in 1901 to Honduras, which was also the year his grandmother was born.
