Habanos Produces Cohiba and Montecristo Limited Edition Humidors for Lunar New Year Celebrations
Author: Inspector X
Cigar enthusiasts in the UK seeking budget-friendly options to celebrate the Lunar New Year can opt for two limited-edition humidors from Cuba, filled with machine-made cigars from Cohiba and Montecristo. Both boxes feature a high-gloss lacquer finish adorned with the Chinese Zodiac motif. The Cohiba Year of the Rabbit humidor is loaded with 88 Shorts, while the Montecristo humidor contains 66 Shorts, measuring 3 1/4 inches by 26 ring gauge and made from short-filler tobacco. These Shorts come in a small format and are different from Clubs or Minis, which are also small-format, machine-made cigars from Cuba that usually come in cardboard packs. These humidors are priced at $240 or less, making them an affordable option.
Like previous Lunar New Year packages, production is limited. Only 8,888 Montecristo humidors are being produced, while 15,888 Cohiba humidors are scheduled for a larger production run. Switzerland is set to receive both releases first, with La Casa del Habano shops receiving the first allotments on February 21, followed by stores designated as Habanos Specialists the following week. The Cohiba humidor is expected to retail for 218 Swiss Francs, while the Montecristo version is priced at 140 Swiss Francs. These humidors are intended for worldwide distribution, except in the US, although it is not clear when other global markets will receive their shipments.
Similar humidors were created in 2022 to celebrate the Year of the Tiger and in 2021 for the Year of the Ox, featuring Chinese Zodiac motifs. These limited-edition humidors are highly sought after by collectors and cigar aficionados, making them an excellent gift for Lunar New Year celebrations. The tradition of smoking cigars during the Lunar New Year celebrations dates back centuries, and the Cohiba and Montecristo humidors are a fitting tribute to this tradition.
