SpecialsGood news for New Zealand cigar enthusiasts
Good news for New Zealand cigar enthusiasts. The number of cigar brands and lines available in New Zealand is growing again. The only importer and distributor for New World cigars in New Zealand expanded the portfolio and is planning on more.
The new cigars that arrived this week include the Deadwood Leather Rose. That’s the latest arrival in the Drew Estate Deadwood Tobacco series. A review of that cigar is coming on here soon. From JFR, the Lunatic Torch Dreamlands and Visionaries are added to the list. Charter Oak Connecticut Share Rothschild is also available for the Kiwi cigar aficionados. All lines from Drew Estate will be available soon. The same goes for Plasencia Cigars, all lines are ordered by Canteros. The new Sobremesa blue from Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust and Polpeta are inbound as well. Crowned Heads collaboration with Drew Estate, La Coalicion, is also inbound.
Fratello and La Zona
The new bundle cigars from Fratello are available right now. In all three blends. the cigars are made in the Dominican Republic. The lines are named after colors. There’s a Fratello Blu, Fratello Rosso, and a Fratello Verde. The Blu has a Maduro wrapper. The Rosso is made with a Habano wrapper, although that will most likely be called Sun Grown for international markets. The Verde sports a Connecticut Shade wrapper.

New Zealand will be the first country where Espinosa cigars are distributed. Of course, some retailers in other countries sell Espinosa Cigars, yet they come from wholesalers. Up until this week, Espinosa did not have an official international distributor. Canteros ordered all the available Espinosa lines, including the award-winning Larranaga. The factory of Erik Espinosa, La Zona, is also responsible for the production of MoyaRuiz cigars. They released a new La Jugada cigar. That is the La Jugada Habano Semi-Pressed Toro. That is a 6 x 52 pressed version of the La Jugada blend. It uses an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan fillers. The cigars are aged a full year before being released. These cigars are coming to New Zealand as well.
Covid-19
New Zealand is very successful in fighting the pandemic. Tobacco was considered an essential business and Canteros.nz profited from that. Especially because the main rival, Havana House, closed the door for six weeks. Havana House only sells Cuban cigars. According to Canteros, he gained 2700 customers that used to order at Havana House. The reactions on the New World cigars are overwhelming, and most of those customers are now returning customers at Canteros for New World cigars.
