Espinosa Cigars adds the third Las 6 Provincias. The Las 6 Provincias is a series of limited edition cigars named after the old-time provinces in Cuba. Before the current, repressive, regime under the leadership of the Castro’s and their clan, Cuba used to have six Provincias. This installment has the name Las Villas, where the previous editions were known as LHB (La Havana) and MTZ for Matanzas. That leaves Pinar del Río, Camagüey, and Oriente for the next three of the six-part series.

The cigars don’t come from Espinosa’s factory Tabacalera La Zona in Esteli, Nicaragua. Instead, they come from Tabacalera A.J. Fernandez Cigars, a factory that makes a few other cigars for Espinosa as well. The blend consists of all Nicaraguan tobacco and there is only one vitola available. That is a 5½x54 Robusto.
The boxes of Las 6 Provincias are always a joy to see. The ten count boxes represent a curio cabinet, with the cigars in individual coffins. Only 1000 of these boxes are available. Each box is painted by hand by the artist Eden Guitierrez.
“We are incredibly happy to continue this homage to our company’s Cuban roots and the Cuba of our forefathers before Castro took power,” says brand owner Erik Espinosa.
Three down three to go
The first Las 6 Provincias came out in 2018, with the second edition in 2019. Espinosa Cigars did not release one last year, so the Las Villas is the third edition. Espinosa is planning to release the next three in the coming years until all 6 original Cuban provinces had their homage.
