Since his departure from General Cigars, Ernesto Perez Carrillo created EPC Cigars and Tabacalera La Alianza. Both are successful at Tabacalera La Alianza does not only produce cigars for the EPC brand but also makes cigars for others such as Alec & Bradley, Crowned Heads and the new Cuba Aliados for Oliva. In its relative short existence, La Alianza already created two Cigar Aficionado Cigar of the Year cigars.

But recently E.P. Carrillo came out with the Inch Nicaragua, blended by Ernesto but made at the Plasencia Cigars factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. And the new line, E.P. Carrillo Allegiance, will also be made in Nicaragua at Tabolisa, the factory of the Oliva Cigar Company. Allegiance will become a series of collaborations between Ernesto Perez Carrillo and different cigar factories.

“This is an ode to the deep roots we have in the industry, the friendships and the bonds we’ve made over the years, and how this extends to the E.P. Carrillo lines,” says Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, “Oliva Cigars consistently grows excellent tobacco,” he adds, “and our friendship with their team made it an easy choice to partner with them for Allegiance. We aspire to create new series of Allegiance throughout the years. Meaning it is a true ode to the industry,” says Lissette Perez-Carrillo. “The first Allegiance is with Oliva. We hope to make cigars with other factories, in other blends, as well in the future as part of a series. We are still in developmental phases of the bigger concept.”

There will be 7500 boxes of 20 cigars made, of which one third will go to the international markets., but Carrillo says they will continue to order as needed. The cigars feature Nicaraguan tobacco under a Sumatra-seed wrapper grown in Ecuador. The production sizes are Robusto, Toro, Double Corona and No.58.

This version of Allegiance is all Nicaraguan, save for the. The blend is intended to be medium-to-full in body. It comes four sizes: Robusto, Toro, Double Corona and No. 58, with suggested retail prices ranging from $12 to $14. It will be shown in Las Vegas this weekend at the PCA trade show.
