Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust is set to introduce a new size to its Red Meat Lovers line in 2025. Steve Saka announced on Facebook that the new Fritanga, a 6 x 52 box-pressed toro vitola, will debut at the Red Meat Lovers dinner on March 14, 2025, as part of The Great Smoke event organized by Smoke Inn, a South Florida retailer.

Saka describes the Fritanga as a spicier version of the Red Meat Lovers blend, though specific details on what contributes to this spiciness have yet to be revealed. In response to a comment on Facebook, he indicated that the price will be “likely a little more pricey, but not crazy,” with regular production sizes typically ranging from $15 to $17.

For the dinner, 200 bundles of 10 cigars have been produced, but none will be sold at Smoke Inn or The Great Smoke. Instead, any remaining cigars after the event will be returned to the company’s warehouse for the 2025 PCA Convention & Trade Show, scheduled for April 11-14, 2025, in New Orleans.

The Red Meat Lovers line originated in 2019 with a single 6 x 56 toro extra, created as a collaboration between Smoke Inn, Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust, and the Red Meat Lovers Club, which hosts meat-centric charitable events. A second size, a 6 x 52, was introduced the following year, again sold exclusively through Smoke Inn. In 2023, Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust added Red Meat Lovers to its regular production portfolio, which now includes four sizes, all named after beef cuts:

  • Red Meat Lovers Beef Stick (6 x 48)
  • Red Meat Lovers Filet Mignon (5 x 54)
  • Red Meat Lovers Ribeye (6 x 52)
  • Red Meat Lovers Porterhouse (6 x 60)

Saka notes that the name “Fritanga” is inspired by a style of Nicaraguan street food that features grilled meat cooked over an open flame. The Red Meat Lovers blend was crafted specifically for pairing with beef, featuring a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper, a Mexican San Andrés negro binder, and fillers sourced from Nicaragua and Pennsylvania. The line is produced by Nicaragua American Cigars S.A.
