NewsDunbarton Tobacco & Trust Announce Renaming of Sobremesa Line
Author: Inspector Y
In a post on Facebook, Steve Saka, owner and master blender of Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust, announced that the company will be renaming the Sobremesa line to Sobremesa Solita (little sun). Here’s what Saka wrote:
Sobremesa Change
No change to Liga – Only Slight Packaging Change
We are revamping the Sobremesa line.
For nearly three years I have wanted to reduce the box size from the original 25ct to 13ct to match the Sobremesa Brulee box format, but because the box maker has been so far behind reducing the quantity of cigars per box was going to exasperate the box delays.
However, he has finally caught up enough so we will in the New Year be making the transition.
Also we will be slightly adjusting the name so it makes more sense not that there is the Brulee line, by remarking the original liga as “Sobremesa Solita”.
Describing the original Sobremesa as the “old one” does not do justice to the liga which has remained strong in the market for 8 years.
“Solita” is slang for “little sun” which is appropriate to describe its Sungrown Habana capa grown in the valleys of Ecuador which often have cloud cover, hence filtering the sun which results in its exquisite texture and smooth flavors.
So…
Sobremesa Robusto Largo will become Sobremesa Solita Robusto, Sobremesa El Americano will become Sobremesa Solita Toro, Sobremesa Elegante en Cedros will become Sobremesa Solita Churchill en Cedros and Sobremesa Short Churchill will become Sobremesa Solita Short Churchill.
Cigars will remain the same, boxes will remain the same except the change in the front marks and now contain 13 cigars instead of 25. The Short Churchill will remain in its 14ct box.
The one change is we ceased producing the Sobremesa Cervantes Fino many moons ago and it will NOT be making the transition to the Solita family.
This happens to be one of my personal favorites, but business is business.
All that remains in our warehouse is a few dozen boxes of Cervantes Fino and once they are gone, they are gone until further notice.
Best Regards,
STS
