Canteros, the sole distributor of non-Cuban cigars for New Zealand, managed to get another shipment in before the tax hike of January first. Each and every single blend and vitola from Steve Saka’s Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust, including some unicorns.

Sobremesa, this cigar is made at Joya de Nicaragua. The blend consists of Nicaraguan and American fillers, a Mexican binder and a Habano Rosado wrapper from Ecuador. The line consists of nine different vitolas.

Mi Querida. This seven vitola line is made at Nicaraguan American Cigar S.A. in Esteli, Nicaragua. The blend is all Nicaraguan filler and binder with a broadleaf wrapper grown in the Connecticut River Valley.

Todos Las Dias is also made at NACSA. It’s a Nicaraguan puro. And if you are fluent in Spanish and think “it should be Todos Los Dias” then you are right. But there’s history to this spelling error back from the days when Saka hardly spoke Spanish and made this error all day.

Umbagog is Saka’s tribute to his love for fishing and his favorite lake to do that, Umbagog lake between Connecticut and Maine. The cigar is meant to stand up to the weather and the rigors of outdoor activities. Not the best-looking cigar, but never judge a book by its cover. Made at NACSA, with Nicaraguan filler, binder, and a US Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper.

Muestra de Saka. The blend changes per size, and only three sizes have been released. One of them is the unicorn, a very expensive but unique cigar. And the shipment to New Zealand includes some of them. The cigars are made either at Joya de Nicaragua or at NACSA, depending on the blend and vitola.

Sin Compromiso is the lastest of Steve Saka’s releases. All tobacco is specially grown for this cigar. The Mexican wrapper is grown in a way that Japanese fruit farmers grow their fruit. The bottom leaves are removed constantly, forcing the plant to feed the top leaves. The binder is Ecuadorian and the filler is all Nicaraguan. There are five vitolas in the line.
