Dunbarton comes with Connecticut Shade Sobremesa. This new line is called the Sobremesa Brûlée and will be available globally. Several Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust distributors told us they expect the cigars this summer.

A mild Dunbarton cigar

For the fans of Liga Privada or any of the Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust, seeing a mild cigar from the hands of Steve Saka may seem weird. But it’s not. For years Saka has been saying he misses the mild cigars from the past. And he even has a theory that the popularity of the 60 ring cigars is so big due to the fact that there are no great mild cigars. He announced the birth of the Sobremesa Brûlée on facebook a few months ago.

“Sobremesa Brûlée is a recreation of the milder, shade wrapped ligas of my early years. Somewhere over the last three decades many of the classic shade cigars have become wispy, uninspiring and rather dull to my palate. I wanted to share with others the way I remember these blonde cigars being,” Saka explains his motivation to create the line.

Where many of the new Connecticut Shade lines try to re-invent the wheel, Saka goes back to the good old days. He calls the new, strong Connecticut Shade cigars a lack of appreciation to the characteristics and nuances of Connecticut Shade. It was Saka’s intention to make a classic cigar with the best tobaccos he could source.

The blend and vitolas

For the Sobremesa Brûlée, Saka reblended the Sobremesa. He removed the ligero from Pennsylvania. Then increased the amount of seco from Condega. And he replaced the wrapper with Connecticut Shade from Ecuador. The best grade he could find. According to Saka “The result is a milder, even smoother adaptation of the Sobremesa blend that does not sacrifice its wonderfully complex flavors or aromas. This is not a cigar to be smoked casually, but rather a relaxing smoking experience meant to be savored slowly.”

There will be three sizes available. Those are a 5¼x52 Robusto, a 6×52 Toro, and a 6¼x60 Gordo. And they will be packed in boxes of 13. The Gordo will have a bullet head. It’s the same shape at the Sin Compromiso El Amsterdam, the Cigaragua exclusive cigar that’s coming this summer.
