Dunbarton announces Sombremesa Brûlée line additions. The new additions will grow the line from three to five sizes. Although one of the line additions is a limited edition.

The new vitolas are a 7×54 Sobremesa Brûlée Double Corona and a 6½x46 Sobremesa Brûlée Blue. The last one is a limited edition, only 13.000 cigars have been produced.

Mild cigars

Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust Owner Steve Saka is known for his bold, strong yet balanced blends. So when he was announcing a Connecticut Shade wrapped cigar, aficionados all over the world thought he lost his mind. But Saka said he missed the mild cigars from the past. And he even has a theory that the popularity of the 60 ring cigars is so big because there are no great mild cigars.

“Sobremesa Brûlée is a recreation of the milder, shade wrapped ligas of my early years. Somewhere over the last three decades many of the classic shade cigars have become wispy, uninspiring and rather dull to my palate. I wanted to share with others the way I remember these blonde cigars being,” Saka explains his motivation to create the line.

The blend and more

The cigars feature an Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper over a Mexican binder. For the filler, Dunbarton uses four different Nicaraguan tobacco varieties. The new Double Corona is expected to be released before the summer. The limited edition Sobremesa Brûlée Blue will be launched at the PCA Trade show (formerly known as IPCPR) in July. Saka picked the size for the blue as he loves the vitola, even though he doesn’t expect it to sell well. “This is one for the cigar geeks” he said.
