July 2019

Drew Estate and C. Gars Ltd collaborate for Orchant Seleccion by Drew Estate. Mitchell Orchant from the British tobacconist C. Gars Ltd and the blenders of Drew Estate created an exclusive cigar. That cigar will only be sold by C. Gars Ltd and their Turmeaus shops.

Orchant Seleccion

This is not the first time that Orchant loaned his name for a cigar. It started in 2007 as a collaboration with Habanos distributor Hunters & Frankau. They approached Orchant with the idea to hand select boxes of cigars that he thought were outstanding. Then add an ‘Orchant Seleccion’ ring and sell them exclusively through his C. Gars Ltd shop. Up till today, 18 different Cuban cigars are part of the Orchant Seleccion. But all in a limited number of boxes, and gone is gone.

But it’s not limited to just Cuban cigars. Since 2014, Orchant also has an Orchant Seleccion in non-Cuban brands. There was a Davidoff Orchant Seleccion Lancero. Regius had an Orchant Seleccion. In 2015, a three vitola Orchant Seleccion by Oliva was released. 500 boxes of each size. And Alec Bradley worked with Orchant on a limited edition Orchant Seleccion by Alec Bradley last year.

And now here is an Orchant Seleccion by Drew Estate. The cigars are made at Gran Fabrica Drew Estate in Esteli, Nicaragua. The blenders and Orchant came up with three vitolas. Those are 3½x46 lightweight, 4½x46 medium weight, and 5½x46 heavyweight. The blend uses the signature Drew Estate Stalk Cut Habano as a binder. The tobacco is grown in the Connecticut River Valley. The binder is a real Indonesian Sumatra. The filler comes from Nicaragua, Indonesia, Dominican Republic, and the USA. The last one is Connecticut Broadleaf.

Release parties

The cigars are scheduled for an August release. But there is a way to get your hands on a pre-release cigar. In the coming week, there are two pre-release parties in the United Kingdom. And again, Drew Estate and C. Gars Ltd collaborate for those. In Liverpool and in Chester, both at Turmeaus. The first party is on Tuesday, July 16 in Liverpool. Mitchell Orchant and Drew Estate founder Jonathan Drew will be there. The next day, Orchant and Rick Ortiz from Drew Estate will be in Chester. Tickets for these events include the Orchant Seleccion by Drew Estate in all three sizes.
