January 2019

Recently we published the news that Scandinavian Tobacco Group would take over control of the distribution of Diesel, Ave Maria, Reposado, Sons of Anarchy and Man O’ War in The Netherlands.

Of course, we reached out to STG to get their side of the story. From March 1st, 2019, STG will have two full-time representatives on the road, just for their handmade premium cigars, the HMC department. Before the handmade cigars didn’t have their own representation and were part of the portfolio of the STG sales representatives which also included machine-made cigars, pipe tobacco, roll your own tobacco and several other products. The HMC department is responsible for the distribution of Macanudo, CAO, and Don Tomas. From April 1st, brands Diesel, Ave Maria, Reposado, Sons of Anarchy and Man O’ War will be added to the HMC portfolio.

STG also explained that they are working on streamlining the portfolio worldwide, and controlling the distribution of these brands made for STG is a step in that process. Previously the brands were made and owned by STG daughter Meier & Dutch, a cigar wholesaler in the USA, but the brands are now completely under the wings of STG, just like Macanudo, CAO, Don Tomas and more brands that are only available in the USA due to copyrights.
